My highly esteemed elders and dear colleagues, I am honored to address
you in EDO NMA website. It has been an eventful quarter of the year, marked by the successful Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference, which saw impressive participation from our members. I extend my gratitude to all members for their active engagement.
The State Officers Committee has prioritized member welfare, achieving notable successes. These include securing MRTF payment for Association of Resident Doctors under Edo State Government employment and the state government's commitment to renovating doctors' residences at Ezoti. Congratulations to ARD EDGE on this development. We also congratulate Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu on her appointment as Chief Medical Director of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, wishing her a successful tenure. However, we've faced challenges, including numerous encounters with the police regarding alleged medical negligence by our members.
The State Officers Committee has been actively engaging with the police to resolve these issues and is pursuing lasting solutions. We're also working with the state government to improve remuneration and welfare for our members and collaborating with the National Officers Committee of the Nigeria Medical Association to enhance over all welfare for Nigerian doctors. We’ve initiated affiliate projects with MDCAN UBTH, MDCAN Edo State Hospital Management Agency, ARD ISTH, and Medical Women Association of Nigeria, Edo State Branch. Social benefits are ongoing, and we have
upcoming events, including an Ordinary General Meeting, Christmas party, Health Summit, leadership retreat, and health expo. We kindly request your support to make these events successful.
I express my sincere appreciation to our members for the peace and progress we've achieved. Special thanks to our Chief Medical Directors, Medical Directors, and Medical Chief Executives for their support. I'm grateful to the State Officers Committee, my family, and particularly my wife and children for their understanding. Above all, I thank the Almighty God for His mercies. May God bless us all. Long live NMA Edo State, long live NMA, and long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
